About Janelle

Hi there! My name is Janelle Vermeulen and I’m a Certified Nutrition Therapy Practitioner from Conifer, Colorado where I live with my husband, Eric, and our ridiculously good-looking pup, Pudge.

My path to nutrition therapy was windy at best, having graduated from Penn State University in 2005 with degrees in Marketing & International Business, I originally entered the professional world in marketing and public relations roles for the Department of Defense and later on, the financial services industry. Food has always been a huge deal in my life, but it wasn’t until I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and autoimmune disease in 2006 that I truly discovered the path to food as medicine when a friend gave me a copy of the oh so controversial book, ‘The China Study’. Since I was now working to pay off my student loans AND a load of medical bills (and I still didn’t feel good after surgery and medication), I knew that my life had to change. I absolutely would not settle for having to take pills and feel like crap the rest of my life, so that’s when I invested in myself and in my health.

That journey led me to countless hours of studying everything related to nutrition and functional medicine. Co-workers would ask me to coach them; family members would ask me for advice, and helping them always brought me so much joy! And it wasn’t until my husband, Eric, was deployed overseas that I decided to go back to school and get certified in nutrition therapy.

I’ll be honest, doing a double major as an undergrad was a walk in the park compared to working a full-time corporate gig and going to school part-time studying nutrition therapy. And I knew I was doing the right thing when it got to the point where more than a few of my personal books appeared in my curriculum too.

I graduated from the Nutrition Therapy Institute in October 2017 as a Certified Nutrition Therapy Practitioner, one of my proudest accomplishments to date. Being able to help guide people to a better way of living is truly the most rewarding gift I’ve ever received. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing, there truly is a better way to live your life. And I’d love to show you how, with one better bite at a time.
